Welcome to the second edition of the Aldeburgh Alumni e-newsletter.
Many of you from all over the world have got back in touch
with us, and it has been wonderful hearing your stories about
Aldeburgh.
In November, Aldeburgh Music held a reception at the Century
Association in New York to celebrate Aldeburgh Music's long-standing
relationship with the USA. It also marked the launch of the
Aldeburgh American Scholarships, which will allow more US
musicians to attend the BrittenPears Young Artist Programme
(more
info). Among the attendees was our Artistic Director,
Thomas Adès (alumnus, Contemporary Performance and
Composition 1992) who was in residence at Carnegie Hall with
Simon Rattle (Former Artistic Director) and the Berlin Philharmonic.
We had a great turnout from the American alumni, and recent
Residency and Young Artist Programme alumni performed at the
event. If you would like to be included in future Aldeburgh
Music events in the USA, please email me at alumni@aldeburgh.co.uk.
Jonathan Reekie, our CEO, travelled to Canada in October
and visited the Canadian Aldeburgh Foundation members. They
continue to provide generous support to talented Canadian
musicians to take part in the BrittenPears Young Artist
Programme. Our stellar list of Canadian alumni includes Gerald
Finley, Adrienne Pieczonka, Ofra Harnoy, Nancy Argenta, and
Michael Schade, to name but a few.
Lots of exciting developments are going on at Aldeburgh Music
at the moment, such as the building of the new rehearsal and
performance spaces and the purchase of additional artist housing.

We are planning future Aldeburgh Alumni events in London
for November 2008, so get in touch with us if you'd like to
attend. We would love to see you again.

Alumni Co-ordinator, Aldeburgh Music.
