Who can apply?
Aldeburgh Young Musicians provides training and development opportunities
for young people aged 8-18 who can demonstrate exceptional musical talent
and potential, irrespective of means, social or ethnic background. The
upper age limit to join the scheme initially is 16. Once you have joined,
however, you can stay until you are aged 18.
Primarily, this scheme is intended to assist those living in the Eastern
region: Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. However, a number of places
will be made available for national and international students.
How to apply
application will be through an audition process. Through performance,
rehearsal techniques, musical awareness, aural perception and interview,
successful candidates will demonstrate not only exceptional musical
talent and commitment, but clear potential to develop as a musician
and the capacity to benefit from the opportunities provided by Aldeburgh
Young Musicians. Our Young Musicians will have a real passion for music!
Students may apply for audition independently, or through recommendation
by the Music Service, their school, or private instrumental teacher.
Young composers are asked to submit a score or recording (CD/DVD/MP3
file) of some of their most recent work.
Download an application form here.
You will also need to submit a Teacher's
