
Oscar Charlton (rock guitar)
Oscar was born in Felixstowe in 1994, and began piano lessons at the age of seven. A year later, having seen his primary school band perform, Oscar decided he wanted to play the guitar and immediately began taking lessons, later learning percussion as a third instrument. He is a member of glam/metal band Silk and Steel.

Gabriel Ciulli (recorder)
Born in 1998, Gabriel plays descant and treble recorders, as well as the violin. Trained in dance with King Slocombe School of Dance in Cambridge, he has been a student of DanceEast Academy since 2008. He enjoys every kind of music, from baroque to hip-hop, and from busking all the James Bond theme songs on his descant recorder to breakdancing with SinCru!
Luke Congdon (piano)
Luke began playing the piano when he was very young - his mum wanted to learn, but Luke picked it up before she did! In 2004 Luke started playing violin and guitar and then he wanted to start playing the clarinet. Luke really enjoys improvisation and he has arranged songs which were performed in the Sudbury Festival and the Quay Theatre, Sudbury.
Alexander Cook (composition/violin)
Alex was born in 1994 and began playing the violin at the age of 7. He also plays viola, piano and double bass. Taught composition by Jeremy Thurlow, Alex composes in a wide variety of styles including jazz, orchestral and electronic music. Both Alex’s violin and viola are made by Christopher Rowe, and his viola has been kindly loaned by the Benslow Instrument Loan Scheme.

Miranda Davies (Percussion)
Miranda was born in 1995 in Cambridge. At school she participates in many diverse musical ensembles, as well as being a percussionist in CAmbridge Youth Orchestra, Cambridge Youth Percussion Ensemble and Cambridge Youth Wind Orchestra. When not wielding an instrument, Miranda loves playing hockey. She is really looking forward to "Striking Together for Bronze" as as an upcoming music tour to Prague.
Owen Dawson (trombone)
Owen Dawson was born in 1994 and currently attends Woodbridge School where he is working towards his A-levels. Owen studies trombone with Tony Parsons, jazz trombone with Mark Bassey and piano with Christine Whiffen. At Woodbridge Owen is in most ensembles and is currently holder of the advanced piano and brass cups. Alongside working in the music department Owen has also worked with the Drama department on various productions as a musician, composer, arranger and musical director. Recent notable performances on trombone include: Bernstein’s Mass conducted by Marin Alsop at the Royal Festival Hall, Dance by Sebastian Black at the opening of the Jerwood Dance House, Workers Union by Louis Andriessen at the Southbank’s Spirit Level, the opening performance of a new concert series in Felixstowe and two concert tours to Germany and Holland with the Suffolk Youth Orchestra.
In his spare time Owen enjoys cycling, playing badminton and cookery!
The Aldeburgh World Orchestra Project
The AWO project brings emerging professional musicians from all over the world to Suffolk; to inspire, engage and perform; raising ambition and celebrating talent on a local to international level, as part of the London Cultural Olympiad in 2012
AYM Exchanging Worlds Ensemble
As part of Exchanging Worlds we will also establish a creative performance ensemble made up of exceptional young musical talent (under 18's) through Aldeburgh Young Musicians (AYM). This commissioning ensemble will be cross cultural and cross genre in content. Through collaborative working and the exchange of global musical conversations, new works will be created for performance at Snape Maltings and regional touring.
Alongside the ensemble AYM Composers will compose a fanfare for members of Aldeburgh World Orchestra, experiment with remote interactivity and take advantage of AWO mentoring opportunities. Finally, two young musicians will join AWO.
Exchanging worlds has been funded by Legacy Trust UK, an independent charity set up to help build a lasting cultural and sporting legacy from the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games across the UK.
