
The Aldeburgh World Orchestra brings emerging professional musicians from all over the world to the UK; to inspire, engage and perform; raising ambition and celebrating talent on a local to international level, as part of the London Cultural Olympiad in 2012.

All AWO members will arrive in the UK on 5 July 2012 and depart on 30 July 2012
All top young artists (aged 18-29 years at time of application ) are welcome to apply. Exceptional alumni, who have been members of BPO over the last 3 years may be invited to audition for AWO in exceptional circumstances.
Please note that in the spirit of Britten-Pears Orchestra, we are selective about the quality of player we recruit both technically and in character. We therefore welcome exceptional young artists at the top of their game who also strive for excellence, relish development opportunities and who foster a sense of team spirit to apply.
No. Musicians from any country in the world are invited to apply, provided they can obtain the necessary visas to travel and perform. Obtaining the correct visa will be your responsibility but we will offer successful applicants advice on this.
Nothing to participate. Successful candidates will be awarded a full bursary which covers all course fees, international or national travel, accommodation and catering for the duration of the project. Candidates need only cover necessary visa fees and an audition fee of approximately £25 at time of application to cover our administrative costs.
After an intensive residency with specialist tutors and Sir Mark Elder, the AWO will perform at high profile venues during a short European tour. The provisional schedule is:

All auditions take place online between 12 September - 1 December 2011 for AWO and BPO. (All other courses deadline - 1 November) NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
Please note that BPP reserves the right to recruit applicants throughout the year if we require artists from a specific region* or feel this is best for the section.
* Regions include Americas, Europe, United Kingdom, Africa, Asia & the Middle East, Oceania. (In order for AWO to be truly international it will consist of an approximately equal numbers of young artists from 6 regions of the globe).

Initial auditions are taking place online. If we require you to participate in a second, live audition, we will contact you. Details of venues can be found in 'Audition dates'. You can select your preferred venue on the application form.
