In May 2008, young composers and instrumentalists took part in New Music New Media at the Britten–Pears Programme, working with Ian Dearden, David Sheppard and Jonathan Harvey, and looking at digital and electronic techniques.
At the end of their 10-day stay, the participants presented the results of their explorations into electro-acoustic music.

Canadian pianist Louis Lortie has been praised for the fresh perspective and individuality he brings to a deliberately broad spectrum of the keyboard canon.
Over 20 years have passed since he last recorded Chopin’s études. Plushmusic, in association with Chandos, was there when he revisited them in September 2009 – this time in the new Britten Studio at Snape.
The result is a breathtaking film which captures a pianist at the height of his powers mastering these challenging works on a Fazioli piano.

The AWO will be in residence at Aldeburgh Music for three weeks during the summer of 2012. The Residency will culminate in performances at Snape Maltings, London BBC Proms and other European venues. We are also in discussion to be part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
In order to realise this vision, the Britten-Pears Orchestra will be expanding its network of top calibre young artists with the aim of inviting them to partake in the AWO in 2012.
