Restless Earth
Photograph by Colin VirrCome and join in with a 'tapestry of sound and vision' that represents the delicate balance between nature and human driven forces. You don't need to be a musician to participate in this piece, where four 'P-forces' central to our natural world - Pulse, Pitch, Participation and, of course, Performance - are at the heart.

The piece has been devised through an Aldeburgh Residency as part of a long-term project involving the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and The Royal College of Art. Under the Artistic Direction of Sean Gregory and Dan Fern, students and staff from both colleges have spent time with Leiston High School, Ipswich Choral Society 'New Voices' and other members of the community devising the performance.

Cossax
Photograph by Nigel LuckhurstAldeburgh Education has challenged composer Joseph Phibbs to create a piece for a massed group of instrumentalists to perform on the beach. Inspired both by Britten's music and the Russian theme of the Festival, Phibbs has used these ideas as a central strand of his composition. This quirky, creative piece, under the baton of conductor Matthew Rowe, combines the talents of a large group of local young amateur musicians with a core ensemble of professional brass players and percussion.

If you are a saxophonist and would like to get involved......please contact the education department.

Wave Structures
Photograph by Nigel LuckhurstTake a chop-stick and an elastic band and what do you get? A new installation, developed from an online, 'virtual' structure, where 80,000 matchsticks meet cutting-edge new technology of course! Aldeburgh Education commissioned Simon Daw and Gavin O'Carroll to explore the idea of creating an interactive 'sculpture' which could be added to by anyone in the world. Now is your chance to be a part of the resulting construction, which will be translated into a physical reality with an added musical soundscape, composed by Matthew Rogers, for Festival-goers to discover and experience.
