'Celebration'

Aldeburgh Music is undertaking a major development project involving
transformations and renovations. So, we have chosen the theme for this
year as Transformation - Something Old, Something New.
The teachers pack that is given to all Suffolk schools explores themes
such as variation, where one idea becomes the basis of something new
and original. The pack will aim to spark off ideas and will be linked
to the national curriculum where we feel is necessary. Whilst the pack
is essentially music-orientated, there are lots of opportunities to
broaden the ideas to include drama, dance, creative writing, art and
technololgy. We hope the pack will be useful to you and look forward
to seeing some of the products. There will be regular updates and information
on the project on this page, so please keep in touch!

Each year, Aldeburgh Music supply a project-based
teachers' pack to every school in Suffolk, as well as setting up
special composition projects. This year our projects will include a
Musical Exchange between HMP & YOI Warren Hill, Carlford Unit with
Stowupland High School, looking at composition inspired by photographic
images. There is also a special project with St Mary's RC Primary School,
Lowestoft, working with composer Matthew Rogers testing new software
by Sibelius - Groovy City. In
addition, Aldeburgh Education has commissioned students from the Guildhall
School of Music & Drama Connect course, who have
been working with young people from Suffolk, to create a final massed
performance piece for each night by those schools performing.
