Description

Group A is recruiting new members to start in September 2012!!

Meeting regularly across the year, Group A is an unauditioned vocal and performance group, for 14-18 year olds. Directed by Pete Letanka, the group also works with a variety of artists, encouraging a wide selection of vocal techniques and develops new material ready for performance.

We are currently recruiting new members to start in September 2012 – it doesn’t matter if you have musical experience or not, young people with all abilities are welcome to join!

Description

Aldeburgh Education continues to develop its 10 year relationship with HMP & YOI Warren Hill, and specifically with Carlford Unit, through a year round programme of music and media based activity.

Across the year, Aldeburgh Education will create and deliver exciting music based projects working across the HMP & YOI Warren Hill establishment.

Young People will work with established and experienced artists to create new and original music, learning practical skills in performance, composition, recording and production. Projects will range from creating an album to live band performance.

Each project is crafted to provide positive learning experiences and encourages the development of vital life skills.

'I saw a group of young men work together as a team to create something that was both striking, emotional, powerful and tender. They presented their material with confidence and pride.
I think success is addictive. When you have it one part of your life, inevitably you begin to want it in others and like water in an ice tray it spills over in to the other aspects of your life. 'I have worked with Aldeburgh on a few occasions during my time at HMP & YOI Warren Hill doing different projects; from creating a short movie to recording and producing an album.
I personally feel that working with Aldeburgh Music has helped me develop my skills as an all round artist and I think I can speak for most at the establishment when I say that Aldeburgh has helped a lot of us become more versatile whilst having lots of fun in the process.
Throughout my work with Aldeburgh I have met many friendly faces who have helped me to become a better artist and I can safely say that without them I probably wouldn’t be coming up with the diverse kind of content that I’ve been writing recently'. Participant 2009 - 2011

A Celebration of Schools' Music

Description

First held in 1988, this year sees us celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the first event.

Celebration is the result of a long-standing and productive partnership between Aldeburgh Music and Suffolk County Council, with all ages and stages of Suffolk maintained schools (primary, middle and high) being represented during the week.

During Celebration, the performers are treated just like professionals, with a dressing room, crew and technical staff. Each school has a dress rehearsal for their own performance, after which everyone comes together at the end of the day to rehearse the specially commissioned finale piece.
