Focus On Work With HMP & YOI Warren Hill

Between 14th & 25th July 2008 Aldeburgh Music worked with Carlford Unit to set up and run an FM radio station.

Building on the resources that already exist at HMP & YOI Warren Hill, this project was designed to give every young person on Carlford Unit the chance to access high quality media equipment.

Future 105.1 was led entirely by the young people on Carlford Unit. They planned, programmed and ran over 40 hours of air time between the 21st & 25th of July. Covering an area across south Suffolk, Future FM had callers from Woodbridge and beyond making requests for their favourite anthems.

Whilst running the radio station the young people worked with professional musicians and sound producers to create original music. Their tracks were then showcased on their radio shows - some through live performance.

This project continues the longstanding relationship between HMP & YOI Warren Hill, Carlford Unit and Aldeburgh Music providing opportunities in the arts and wider community for offenders.

Aldeburgh Music's next project with Carlford Unit will be from 20-24th October 2008. Working with professional musicians they will create a 29 piece band playing original material...
