Pulse GamesIn June 2009, Sir Harrison Birtwistle led a team of three percussionists and three composers, working with 30 young people, ‘non-musicians’ from the local area. They looked at the concept of pulse and time – something that Birtwistle has explored throughout his career and something that was highlighted in the 2009 Aldeburgh Festival event Harrison’s Clocks.
2001
Boys in BaberghA collaboration between Aldeburgh Education and DanceEast, working with 130 boys from the Babergh District of Suffolk. Using Greek myth and martial arts, the piece was devised over a three-month period, having launched at Ipswich Town Football Club. The culmination of the project was a performance at Snape Maltings Concert Hall.
2001
SumidagawaAldeburgh Education worked with higher education performing arts students and director Orpha Phelan to devise, create and perform their own interpretation of Sumidagawa – the Japanese Noh play on which Britten based his opera Curlew River. This was performed in Orford Town Hall as part of the 2001 Britten Festival.
Last year 20 projects took place over a total of around 210 days, involving over 10,000 participants and 7,200 audience members.

2010 - Aldeburgh Music’s Media Project won the High Sheriff’s Community Partnership Award for it's work with Lapwing.
2008 - The work of Aldeburgh Education was recognised by the High Sheriff (of Suffolk) Awards. Aldeburgh Education won the overall 'Youth Organisation' award in recognition of our widespread work with young people in Suffolk, tackling anti-social behaviour and crime prevention.
2003 - Aldeburgh Education was part of the team responsible for HMP & YOI Warren Hill, Carlford Unit, winning the Butler Trust Terry Waite Award for work with lifers and long-term prisoners.
