Handel Ariodante (Performed in English)
A young woman, accused of immorality, is cast out by father, fiancé, and friends. When her innocence is established, and her accuser is killed, it is hard to forget how quickly these righteous people condemned her.
Ariodante starts and ends with celebration - but in between, characters confront their worst fears, and the darkest side of their natures. Some are broken by suffering, others redeemed - but all are transformed in the course of a day.

English Touring Opera's celebrated production of this powerful drama keeps the action on the Scottish coast, but translates it to Brontë-like clerical circles.
'The minutely pondered body-language articulates so well the humanity and the drama of Handel's score' - The Times

This autumn, English Touring Opera commemorate with their Handel Festival the 250th anniversary of the death of George Frideric Handel, whose works for the stage represent the highest achievement in opera in this country.
An ambitious presentation of some lesser-known stage works, they bring the two most exciting operas from this Handel Festival to Snape.
