Aldeburgh Young Musicians
Anton Lukoszevieze with Apartment House
Scratch the surface of anyone’s life and there is a goldmine of facts and incidents. The composer Robert Schumann was Anton Lukoszevieze’s source for his new work, weaving biographical facts, song fragments and contemporary information about the composer to create a musical and visual tableaux.
Using this work as a starting point, Aldeburgh Young Musicians (AYM) have created new works to be performed at the end of their week, as the first half
of this Open Session. After the interval, a chance to hear the original work that has inspired a week of AYM creativity.
Less a re-arrangement, more a futuristic unearthing of Schumann’s work as an archaeological source, Schumann: Entropic Song Meditations is a contemporary ‘decreation’ of the 7 Songs Op. 104 by Robert Schumann, for six musicians and voice with live electronics and video. The original songs are modified in radical ways: pitches from Schumann’s score are transformed through experimental processes, whilst the text forms a frame for graphic notation.
