This is the premiere performance of a unique song-cycle inspired by time spent on the Suffolk coast, and drawing from the area’s rich history and traditions.
Working with musicians from her regular band, designer Alice Holloway-Smith, folk trio The Rubber Wellies, and novelist Heidi James, Herbert presents an inventive fusion of music, film and storytelling that explores stories from inshore and out: jaded seaside hotels, victorious Fishguard ladies, shady tavern drinkers and pretty cobble walkers, the lament of a captain far from home. The cycle is a beautiful, intricate exploration of the sea in all its majesty and mystery.
