Circus Skills, Theatre and music from the CBSO: El Ultimo Tango

Workshop - 2–4pm - Justin Appleyard: Circus Ricardo £8
A two-hour drop-in circus skills workshop for all ages with Justin Appleyard of Circus Ricardo; with juggling, unicycle riding, plate-spinning, walking on stilts and diabolo. With 10 years of clowning experience behind him the kids will love it whilst the parents might enjoy a pint on the marshes....

Music - 4.30pm - Aisha Orazbayeva: Bach and Berio £5
Young Kazakh violinist, Aisha Orazbayeva brings her trademark dynamic style to the music of two of the world’s greatest authors of solo music for violin: JS Bach, and Luciano Berio. The old German needs no introduction; the Italian modernist Berio however is still a bit of a discovery: meditations on the violin’s sound world that unfold a subtle drama well worth getting into.

Theatre - 6.30pm - Jubilate by Ros Adler £8
Rosalind Adler creates five unique characters in this black comedy about the pleasures of controlling other people. Adler’s creation, Anna, enmeshes herself in the lives of the needy women of her husband’s parish, with terrible and unexpected consequences. “This is marvellous, a real miniature drama crackling with comedy both dark and light…” Libby Purves

Music - 8.30pm - AYM: Percussion Ensemble £5

Quite Extraordinary! A Quiet Evening of entertainment and strange beauty. Take some minimalism, stir in a little theatre, and season with essence of Scratch Orchestra. They are young and they are exceptionally talented – Aldeburgh Young Musicians (here with Joby Burgess) are fully-fledged pros in all but age and grey hair… Their percussion ensemble comes to the Pumphouse bringing post-classical percussion music from the most imaginative of American and British experimental composers. ‘Music for pieces of wood’, ‘Drinking and Hooting Machine’ – expect sounds you’ve never heard before!

Music - 10.30pm - CBSO: El Ultimo Tango £8
This ensemble consists of flute, sax, cello, bass and piano and it specialises in Argentinian nuevo tango with particular emphasis on the music of Astor Piazzolla. "El Ultimo Tango clearly…empathise with Piazzolla’s vibrant, fiery tango music. They play with joie de vivre. There is a feeling of freshness and spontaneity about it all". MusicWeb
