One long riotous Congolese party
From the streets of Kinshasa, a sound like no other and the most remarkable musical success stories of our times.
Staff Benda Bilili have garnered international fame from the most unlikely of backgrounds – disabled, self-taught street musicians who have formed one of the most tight-knit, upbeat and vibrant bands around.
This is virtuosic, high-energy, soullful musicianship, a riff-driven melting pot of African and Latin, music to make you dance with a smile on your face. Their songs may often speak of hardship, their instruments ingeniously improvised, but the sound is astonishingly tight, their big-hearted vocals a mouthpiece for extraorindary stories and huge personalities.
Staff Benda Bilili is one long riotous party, filled with an irrepressible joyous music-making.
