Absorbing influences from acoustic physics, contemporary micro-tonality and the scrapyard, thirty-one is a unique outsize percussion installation designed specifically for the foyer of the Hoffmann building by composer, democrat, one-time radiographer, ex-punk rocker and originator of the Junk Gamelan, Stuart Stevens.
Including the world premiere of the instrument and a piece commissioned for it from Stevens, together with the chance for everyone to perform on it. More meaningful than Stockhausen, more creative than Scrapheap Challenge, this is Top Gear for the avant-garde musician and the curious passer-by…
