How to apply

All application materials should be submitted no later than 16 January 2012 to Chelsea Lawrence, Opera Administrator at Aldeburgh Music: clawrence@aldeburgh.co.uk.

Requirements

COMPOSERS:

  • completed application form 
     
  • CV or biography [1 side A4 maximum] and list of works
     
  • audio recording of your work, to include some vocal writing, up to 30 minutes maximum to be submitted via SoundCloud (instructions here)
     
  • track listing and programme notes for each audio piece submitted

The following should be completed by the composer, in conjunction with their collaborators if appropriate, and submitted by the composer:

  • summary of opera proposal [2 sides of A4 maximum]
     
  • motivation for application [1 side of A4 maximum]
     
  • a sample of the libretto if one already exists, or an example of work by the writer (to be sent electronically) 

COLLABORATORS

(e.g. writers, directors):

  • completed application form
     
  • CV or biography and list of works or engagements
     
  • two examples of recent work [e.g. script, DVD, stills of performance etc as appropriate]

     

All text documents, including the application form, CV or biography, track listing and programme notes, writing samples, opera proposal summary and motivation for application, should be converted to pdf documents before sending by email to Chelsea Lawrence, Opera Administrator at Aldeburgh Music: clawrence@aldeburgh.co.uk. Please make sure you include your name at the top of each document submitted.
