AYM Weekend (Dec) - Contemporary Song

Bass Player and Recording Engineer Owen Morgan hosts a weekend exploring the writing, arranging and recording process of an original contemporary song.

Drawing on his experience working with Mercury nominated artists such as 'Wild Beasts' and 'Fionn Regan' as well as rock band 'The Darkness', Owen Morgan hopes to demystify both the creative and technical process of recording a modern song through the vocabulary of both an experienced engineer and jazz musician. Students will take control of the writing and arranging of the song and be encouraged to explore the flexibility allowed by modern recording/production techniques. The aim will be to have a completed recording of an original composition by the end of the weekend.

Aldeburgh Young Musicians: Exchanging Worlds

The ensemble Exchanging Worlds brings together 20 extraordinary members of Aldeburgh Young Musicians, who create performances through improvisation, composition, experimentation, digital media and game processes. The ensemble captures the sheer talent and raw energy of its young members, creating music which resists genre categorisation.
Originally created for the London 2012 Festival, the ensemble made its debut at Latitude Festival 2012.
