Aldeburgh has a strong pedigree of offering a range of courses for composers including Contemporary Composition & Performance and New Music New Media at the Britten–Pears Programme, and the Jerwood Opera Writing Programme.
Aldeburgh Composer Residencies allow composers to come to Aldeburgh and work in our inspirational surroundings. There will be six Residencies of three weeks available throughout the year and each will be tailored to the needs of the individual composer. Applications will be welcomed throughout the year and the selection panel, including Colin Matthews and John Woolrich, will sit in October and March each year to choose the successful composers. These Residencies are a superb opportunity for individuals to take time out to create and experiment.
You will generally be provided with space to work, accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem to cover living expenses.
Aldeburgh Composer Residencies are supported by The Hildon Foundation and George and Angie Loudon.

Latin, jazz and world music specialist Alex Wilson took part in an Aldeburgh Residency in September 2008, alongside Malian musicians Madou Sidiki Diabaté and Ahmed Fofana, to develop their Mali Latino project.
