Description

After her Snape Proms debut in 2009, Gwyneth will return throughout 2010 to develop a new song cycle with a strong focus on women’s relationship to the sea. The work will be recorded and taken on a small scale tour.

Description

This promising young composer will be in residence at various times throughout the year as part of the Aldeburgh Composer Residency scheme.

She has also been commissioned by the Academy du Festival d’Aix-en Provence, Verbier Festival Academy and Aldeburgh Music to write for the forces of string quartet and singer, with the piece performed at each the commissioners' festivals.

Curated by The Wire, this edition of Faster Than Sound sees Norwegian vocalist and electronic improviser and composer Maja Ratkje, independent artist Kathy Hinde and New York-based artist and composer Marina Rosenfeld create Parallel Lives.

During their Residency, the artists will generate parallel projects that will come together in a multi-tiered performance at Faster Than Sound.
