The method used for selecting Residencies is a combination of us approaching artists and groups we think may benefit from this programme, and artists approaching us with a detailed proposal. In many cases the projects and artists we invite for Residencies will have a past link to Aldeburgh, or may be those with whom we are keen to establish a relationship. Funding is available for some Residencies, the scale of which will be assessed when proposals are being discussed.
Applications for Aldeburgh Composer Residencies will be assessed twice a year in November and April, when a selection panel meets. Composers will be selected to come on a Residency within the following six months and will be notified immediately after each meeting.
For more information, or for the Aldeburgh Composer Residency application form, please contact Jo Seifert, Artist Development Co-ordinator, on 01728 687156 or email residencies@aldeburgh.co.uk.
Latin, jazz and world music specialist Alex Wilson took part in an Aldeburgh Residency in September 2008, alongside Malian musicians Madou Sidiki Diabaté and Ahmed Fofana, to develop their Mali Latino project.
