If you have visited Snape Maltings recently, you can’t have failed to see the changing skyline as we bring more wonderful old maltings buildings back to life. The transformation into inspirational spaces for artists of all genres is now nearly finished.
When complete the Aldeburgh Music campus will be one of the major music centres where musicians of all levels, whether school age, recently graduated or established stars can practice, teach, share, learn and perform.
The benefit to Suffolk and beyond will be very significant not just in terms of music but also in an expansion of our much admired education work and delivering a major economic impact.
The project has gone better than we dared hope. The new studio complex at Snape, the Hoffmann Building, was completed on budget and on time in May 2009. Since then all four spaces - the Britten Studio, Jerwood Kiln Studio, Foyle and Weinreibe Studios - have been in almost constant use.

The Visitor Centre at Snape opened in June 2009 and work on the Dovecote Studio and Trask Artists’ Café is now complete. The final landscaping of the creative campus is happening over winter 2010/11. Whilst in the Aldeburgh our new artist accommodation is in full use and the last stage of the project is the refurbishment of the Pumphouse.
We are enormously grateful for the very widespread support we have received, which has made this landmark project a reality. As the building work, which will complete our founders’ vision, near completion, we would like to say a big thank you to all those who have contributed.
