Ensemble Basiani
The sensuous, exotic sound of Georgian choral music is a rare and thrilling experience for Western audiences. Restless harmonies combine with unexpectedly abrupt shifts in mood to create an unforgettably distinctive language – this is emotive, passionate music of seemingly boundless variety, invention and sophistication.
The male voices of Basiani are the inheritors of this incomparable musical legacy and its leading exponents.
Their programme melds music traditional and sacred in a unique introduction to one of the greatest and most ancient of singing traditions.
