Night’s mysteries and occasional terrors lurk here, from Schumann’s startling, almost improvisatory dream-like sequences to Ravel’s extraordinary poetic evocations.
Restless and ever-changing, Carter has likened the shifting sonic sands of Night Fantasies to ‘the fleeting thoughts and feelings that pass through the mind during a period of wakefulness at night’.

Louis Lortie
Born in Montréal, Louis Lortie made his debut with the Montréal Symphony at just 13 and the Toronto Symphony three years later.
He has been praised for the fresh perspective and individuality he brings to a deliberately broad spectrum of the keyboard canon.
