Tamara Stefanovich piano
Haydn Sonata in A flat, Hob.XVI:43
Bartók 14 Bagatelles
Elliott Carter Matribute; Two Thoughts About the Piano
Schumann Kreisleriana
As well as some vivid and brilliant writing for the piano, the very essence of each composer is contained within this programme. Haydn’s lucid charm, Bartók’s bold but brittle fragments, Carter’s elegant set of contrasting miniatures and the fluctuating moods of Schumann’s fantasies share a freshness, individuality and exhibit a compelling musical drama.
Tamara Stefanovich brings something of the same startling technique and thoughtful approach to programming familiar repertoire as her regular duo partner Pierre-Laurent Aimard.
